The Highland Winds Whisper

By Mar-ga-ret…Maggie Calder daughter of the Cawdor Clan

This early morning, beneath the golden warmth of an unexpected Glasgow heatwave, Scotland whispered another truth into my heart.

I feel my meditation changing.

It is no longer simply a practice of stillness. It has become a weaving—a deep remembering that lives within the consciousness of all things. Here, the ancient stones have become my teachers. They stand strong and unwavering, reminding me to stand fully in who I am. Yet the Highland winds whisper another lesson: Be strong but be gentle. Hold your truth with kindness. Let your strength be softened by love.

Standing before the monument of William Wallace, I looked upon the warrior’s weapons with different eyes. They were never simply swords or shields. They were sacred tools, forged by fire into symbols of devotion—to the land, to truth, to one’s people, and most importantly, to oneself.

Everything here speaks.

Nothing was ever created for only one purpose. Every stone, every flame, every stream, every blade of grass carries many meanings, each woven into another like threads of an ancient Celtic knot.

I witnessed this while exploring the lives of those who walked this land through the Iron Age. Oddly, I felt completely at home, as though I had stepped into a memory my soul had never forgotten. There was a deep stillness, yet everything was alive in continuous movement. Every moment allowed each element its own sacred dance.

The air carries salt from the sea, the fragrance of wildflowers, and the breath that awakens all living things. It gives life to the fire.

Fire offers warmth, prepares our food, forges our tools, and lights our path through the darkness. It reminds us that transformation always begins with courage.

Then there is the Earth. Here in Scotland, I have discovered that the Earth is not simply where we live. She is Life itself. Every mountain, every glen, every ancient stone embodies the living heartbeat of creation. Never have I experienced such profound oneness.

Thailand opened the doorway within me. It taught me oneness with Spirit.  Scotland has taught me something different.  She has shown me the oneness of being fully alive in this human body. Energetically woven into the Earth, the elements, and the ancient wisdom carried through millions of years of life.

Resting in the Highlands, I felt a confidence and inner power I had never known before. The knowing came as clearly as the modern internet connects us today.  Yet this Earth is the original network.

The forests, the rivers, the winds, the mountains, and the stones have always carried information. They have always been communicating with us. Here in Scotland, many people still live with this quiet knowing. They do not simply believe it.  They belong to it.

And then… there is Water.

Water is far more than the oceans, rivers, lochs, and rain.  Water is the sacred thread holding all life together. She nourishes every seed, every creature, every human heart. From the beginning of time, she has taught us what love looks like. She reminds us that if we do not allow ourselves to feel, to express, to grieve, to celebrate, and to love, something within us slowly dries away.  It is through feeling that we remain fully alive.

Each breath becomes a sacred blessing infused by Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.  With humble gratitude, I realize we are not separate from the Book of Life.  We are each a living chapter. Every heartbeat carries the wisdom of our ancestors into this very moment.

And now, as you read these words, you become part of this story too.

You are Life.  This is Life.

It is one of my deepest honours to walk beside you on this extraordinary journey.  Thank you for being a warrior of the heart.  Just as our Celtic ancestors once walked these lands together, so too do we continue their story, carrying their courage, their kindness, and their love into the world.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
