My Philosophy

At the heart of my work is a simple truth: what you are seeking is already within you.

In a world that moves quickly and constantly pulls you outward, it is easy to lose connection with what is real. The mind becomes busy, the body tightens, and the deeper wisdom within begins to fade into the background. My role is not to add more, but to gently guide you back—by creating the space where you can return to yourself.

Rooted in Eastern practice and lived, real-world experience, my approach is grounded, clear, and accessible. Through meditation, sound, and intuitive guidance, I support a natural shift—from thinking to knowing, from effort to alignment, and from distraction to truth.

This work is not about becoming something new. It is about remembering what has always been here.

Be real in your Zen.

A Life Dedicated to Awakening

A story of surrender, study, and service

My life has been a journey of heart, spirit, and presence—a weaving of wisdom gathered from both the far corners of the world and the quiet depths within. It was never planned.

I began as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle racer, later becoming a trained chef and opening a catering company. Life unfolded in unexpected ways—meeting Eckhart Tolle, getting married, and eventually co-creating a retreat center in Chicago that carried me across the world, teaching in temples, ashrams, and monasteries.

None of it was mapped out.

What guided me was something deeper than the mind—a trust strong enough to say yes, even when I didn’t understand the invitation. In that yes, a path revealed itself—one the mind could never have imagined. My heart took the lead, filling every part of my being with a deep dedication to awakening.

It began with courage and a willingness to change. Holding this as my life mantra, each step naturally unfolded, shaping a way of being rooted in awareness, presence, and truth. What emerged is what I now call my Zen State of Being.

Step into Life

When I told my father I could not have children, he simply said, “Then make the whole world your child.”  I took his words to heart.

Since then, I have met life with a deep compassion for all I encounter—no matter where they are on their path, or what state they arrive in.  Guided by trust and a willingness to say yes, life began to unfold in ways I could not have planned. While living on a small island in Canada, I was led to Wayne Liquorman, a teacher who opened my heart to the totality of life. Soon after, I was invited to a small dinner gathering where I met Eckhart Tolle—someone I had never heard of, and yet, in our first meeting, I felt resistance… even anger. That unexpected beginning became a profound turning point. I later stepped into the role of his private assistant and chef, walking alongside him and being introduced to some of the most influential spiritual teachers of our time, including Dalai Lama, Caroline Myss, and Wayne Dyer. These experiences reshaped how I moved through life, deepening my understanding of presence and what it means to truly meet each moment.

Life then invited me into marriage, where I became a stepmother to two incredible boys. As a family, we co-created Heartland, a retreat center that welcomed teachers from around the world. When that chapter came to an end, life opened another door—bringing me to Thailand. There, I immersed myself in experiences that expanded both heart and awareness: working with elephants, supporting healing environments, and encountering the raw beauty of nature. It was also where I met Bhasakorn, a master monk whose guidance became a turning point in my life.

Through Bhasakorn teaching, I was invited to awaken more deeply into the truth of who I am—and, perhaps most importantly, to understand why I am here. To live with intention. To serve. To meet this lifetime fully. And so, I continue to say yes—to life, to truth, and to the unfolding path.

Life Today

Rooted in simplicity, I live in a loft in Chinatown, Victoria, Canada—an intentional space that reflects the way I move through life: humble, present, and real.

From this place, I’ve created a small, heartfelt center called the Zen Den. It is here that I offer my services, along with house concerts, Pearls of Wisdom talks, and gatherings designed for reflection, connection, and coming home to oneself.  Everything I have lived continues to shape how I serve. My path has opened into a way of being grounded in presence, balance, and self-discovery—a living tapestry of experience, devotion, and care. My intention is simple: that anyone I meet feels invited to step more fully into the radiance of their own being.

I bring all of who I am into this work—motorcycle racer, chef, interior designer, musician, and event creator—along with a genuine curiosity and excitement to keep learning every day.

Saying yes to life continues to guide me.

That yes led to my podcast, The Zen Den with Maggie. It gave me the courage and clarity to write my book; My Monk Called Me Spiritual Gangster. And it has opened the door for me to step into the role of spiritual advisor—supporting those who are ready to move beyond conditioned thinking and into the truth of their authentic selves.

This is the life I live.

Simple. Present. Alive. And always, open to what comes next.
